JANE RUTTER & SIMON TEDESCHI

Two of Australia’s best-loved musicians, Jane Rutter and Simon Tedeschi are both impeccable classical soloists with the ability to transcend musical genres and speak lyrically through their instruments. The Vampire Diaries program for flute and piano was inspired by the artists’ great love for the music of Eastern Europe, particularly of Hungary and Transylvania, with its passionate lyricism and evocative folk melodies. Bartok’s Hungarian Peasant Suite, Franz Doppler’s Hungarian Fantasy, Erik Satie’s Gnossiennes, Schubert’s Hungarian Melody in B minor D 817 and music by Liszt, Brahms and Martinu all celebrate this passion. Features a world-premiere written especially for this program by acclaimed Australian composer Lyle Chan.
